Advent 2025 Book Study

We invite you to join us on Wednesdays in Advent for a soup lunch at books study.
This year we will be reading Names for the Messiah by Walter Brueggemann. Together we will learn about those names we hear so aptly portrayed in Handel's Messiah: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.

Walter Brueggemann is William Marcellus McPheeters Professor Emeritus of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary. An ordained minister in the United Church of Christ, he is the author of dozens of books, including Sabbath as Resistance: Saying No to the Culture of Now, Interrupting Silence: God's Command to Speak Out, and Truth and Hope: Essays for a Perilous Age.

We'll gather on Wednesdays in Advent, (December 3, 10, and 17) in the church library for a soup lunch followed by conversation and discussion of the book.
